The Pacific Violence Prevention Institute and Improvising Change Awarded Peace Builder Award

NOVEMBER 8, 2008--The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center has selected Improvising Change and the PVPI as co-recipients of its Peace Builder Award in the Education category.  Improvising Change is a peer based, improvisational, performance education troupe dedicated to preventing bullying and harassment at Sehome High School in Bellingham, WA.   This program was founded in 2003 by Jonathan Berry, the Executive Director of the PVPI, and Nancy Barga, Assistant Principal at Sehome High School.  The program was designed  by Mr. Berry and the PVPI continues to provide all training and other program support for this project.

"We are honored to receive this award because it shows that our community is embracing the important work that Improvising Change and the Pacific Violence Prevention Institute do to make our schools safer," Mr. Berry said.  "We are grateful to the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center for recognizing our efforts with a Peace Builder Award."
